Democrats, Republicans and Independents have come together to launch Updraft America:
Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg
Sculptor and founder of Flash Sideways Studio
Thanks for visiting this page! Your interest honors these volunteer creators of Updraft America. They have worked tirelessly. Randy, for example, took exactly one day off…to have major orthopedic surgery. Dedicated and hugely fun to work with, this team exemplifies “giving back.” I hope you will extend your own thanks to them for transforming art into social action. They are my heroes.
Another hero is Mr. Jack Rasmussen. He green-lighted Updraft America’s installation at the Katzen Museum for this fall. His January “thumbs-up” message reached me in northern China during an international ice sculpting competition. After a long day on icy scaffolding, wielding a 20-inch chain saw, my soul was warmed by his message. I was joined in toasting Jack and American University by fellow sculptors from around the world, for their mealtime topic of choice was always U.S. politics. Let’s hope art will make a difference.
For a hint at my next project, visit me in my carriage house studio in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC, or simply visit my website.
As a physician, I co-founded (with Amy) Medical Marketing Enterprises, LLC, to teach healthcare professionals how to Internet market themselves…successfully and correctly.
It’s my intimacy with SEO, social media and building websites that got me involved with Updraft America. Truth be told, I joined the team to help out Suzanne after meeting her on a tennis court. Not much of a politico.
I love Dunkin’ Donuts coffee (black please), youth ice hockey, all five of my kids, Labradors, competitive tennis and Amy…not necessarily in this order!
